DNS Leak Test – Protect Your Online Privacy
A DNS leak occurs when DNS queries bypass your VPN and go to your ISP or third-party DNS provider — exposing which websites you visit. Use this test to ensure full privacy when using a VPN.
Why Test for DNS Leaks?
- Confirm your VPN routes DNS requests through its secure servers.
- Prevent ISPs or attackers from learning your browsing destinations.
- Diagnose misconfigured VPN or DNS settings.
How Our Test Works
When you run the test, the page checks which DNS servers are resolving your domain lookups. If the DNS server belongs to your ISP (or a third party different from your VPN), a leak is present.
Run the DNS Leak Test above and follow the recommendations if a leak is found. For VPN suggestions, see our Privacy & Security guides.
